Ectospasm

My good friend Travis Jones came down to the Haunted Forest last night to do a bit of makeup work, so he stuck around afterward and helped me run the art table. A bit slow again last night, so I airbrushed on the back of his t-shirt. This is the result... Thanks again to everyone that has stopped by my table and bought some of my artwork. I really appreciate the support!!!

Wow- I hit my 200th post here today, and yesterday I posted my 200th deviation on my Deviantart page. The planets must be aligned or something.
These are a couple of photos showing the hearse I airbrushed for the Haunted Forest late last month. The top shot shows the work in progress, and the bottom one shows the finished product. This was actually my first "official" airbrush work on metal- I really loved doing the painting, but wearing a respirator when using the eurethane paints is annoying. I feel like Darth Vader the entire time, but at least I am not destroying my brain cells with those toxic fumes I suppose. I am excited to do more work on metal, I have several books I plan on studying soon to help me improve. I was quite happy with the way this logo turned out- I am sure it would look even better with a nice clear coat applied, but the owner of the Haunted Forest wants to wait until next season to really spend any money on this hearse. What a cool car!! I would love to own that thing!

Dirty Scary

Airbrushed T-Shirt. Painted this one several years ago as part of a contest I did with some of my cartooning students. Stole the classic Clint Eastwood pose and turned him into a skeletal gunslinger.

Heavy Metal Art

After 25 years of airbrushing, I FINALLY got around to painting on metal! I have spent the last few weeks reading and learning about automotive painting. I rounded up an old scrap fender, sanded off the clear coat, and finally got the airbrush fired up and painted this happy skull. This was about an hours work- just getting used to the feel of the new airbrush (my second Iwata- picked up an Eclipse HP-CS this time, and I love it!) and the feel of painting with Uretane paints! Tha hardest thing to get used to was wearing a respirator- I seriously felt like Darth Vader for the first 20 minutes or so. I plan to cover the entire fender with various odd illustrations- I do have some green paint as well, so I will try some color soon too. I seriously loved working on metal and can't wait to do bunch more of this crazy stuff soon!!
