Heavy Metal Art

After 25 years of airbrushing, I FINALLY got around to painting on metal! I have spent the last few weeks reading and learning about automotive painting. I rounded up an old scrap fender, sanded off the clear coat, and finally got the airbrush fired up and painted this happy skull. This was about an hours work- just getting used to the feel of the new airbrush (my second Iwata- picked up an Eclipse HP-CS this time, and I love it!) and the feel of painting with Uretane paints! Tha hardest thing to get used to was wearing a respirator- I seriously felt like Darth Vader for the first 20 minutes or so. I plan to cover the entire fender with various odd illustrations- I do have some green paint as well, so I will try some color soon too. I seriously loved working on metal and can't wait to do bunch more of this crazy stuff soon!!

thats cool. id love to have my car painted up with a bunch of crazy art. I should have had my brother teach me how but i figured air brushing was his thing. love your recent music choices. vader and sod are awesome as hell. I seen vader in concert with deicide and a couple other bands that i cant think of at the moment. loved that show regardless of my brain fartage.

Thanks Doc- Airbrushing is something I picked up about 25 years ago, and have been addicted ever since. I really love doing it and cant wait to do more on this piece of scrap metal. Speaking of metal- yes, I dig on Vader- I saw them a couple years ago with Kreator- amazing show! I am a HUGE metal fan, I used to write and publish an underground 'zine- and a couple years ago I wrote and self published a heavy metal/punk/rock trivia book with a good friend of mine. I will have to list it here for sale or on my DA page...
