A Little Here, A Little There

My high school art teacher was a great man by the name of Keith MacFarlane. Mr. Macfarlane always encouraged me, and was very supportive of my cartooning habits. One of his requirements was to turn in a sketchbook with at least 100 sketches per quarter. I always found that to be an easy assignment as I often drew half of that number in a single day. At any rate, I was always very inspired when I would see the work my classmates were producing in their sketchbooks. I used to sit in the back of my art class with some very talented artists, (some who have gone on to have great careers in the art industry.) and it was so cool to look at their sketches. Thats one thing I truly love about Blogging- the opportunity it gives me on a daily basis to see the sketches and artwork of so many talented artists out there. Very inspiring for sure! So here are some more sketches from my assorted bits of paper. Most of these are ball point pen, a couple of them are fine point sharpie. Nothing serious, just the results of what I do whenever I have a spare moment. Some of these are pretty cool, some of them could use a lot of help- but they are always fun to look at, even for me. Hope you enjoy them!

These are really fun! All your sketches here look like you had fun doing them and I don't think every artist can get that across in their work. Impressive airbrush work in your earlier posts too! I'm glad I came across your blog. I'll be back for more inspiration!

I always enjoy visiting your site. I love this because each one seems to have a different expression. Mean, confused, dumb, etc. You are very good at what you do and love seeing what you post next. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the nice words, Lou! It's the greatest compliment ever to know that people are looking at my blog and liking what they see. It's always hard to know what to post on here, as I am in a transitional mode right now, trying to develop a sense of where I need to go with my artwork, so most of the sketches I post here I don't take very seriously, rather I look at them as stepping stones to where I am trying to go. I love every step of the journey, and it makes it that much better to know that fine people such as yourself are enjoying my work! Thanks again, I really appreciate it!

These are terrific; lots of life and character in all of them. I think I like seeing this sort of quick sketch or sketches on an art blog more than any other kind of work. I really like these a lot!
